UI GreenMetric and Sustainable Development: An Important Seminar at Atyrau University

A seminar focusing on sustainable development and the UI GreenMetric international ranking was held at Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University.

The seminar aimed to implement the University’s strategic priorities in the field of sustainable development, as well as to integrate environmental policy, ESG principles, and the climate agenda into educational and research activities.

During the event, Professor Gulbazar Mediyeva, Doctor of Economics and Academician of the National Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, delivered a lecture and shared practical, experience-based insights. The expert highlighted effective ways to improve universities’ performance in international rankings.

The seminar addressed key issues such as the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the green economy and ESG approaches, climate change, the transition to carbon neutrality, the ecological transformation of university campuses, and the alignment of education and research with international ranking indicators.

Representatives of the Atyrau Regional Department of Ecology and the “Akzhaiyk” State Nature Reserve took part in the seminar and contributed their perspectives to the discussions.

It is worth noting that the seminar was previously conducted online and concluded with an offline session on December 25–26. At the end of the event, 42 participants were awarded certificates.
