Presentation of the Book “О моей родной альма-матер и немного о себе”
The book “ О моей родной альма-матер и немного о себе” by Professor and scholar Saniya Kemalova was presented to the public at the Khalel Hall of Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University.
Notably, this new work was published on the eve of the 5th anniversary of the Center for Russian Language, Literature, and Culture, established at the university. The book compiles memories of the distinguished scholar, who studied at Atyrau University for five years and worked there for 43 years, including reflections on the university’s history, colleagues, and her personal and academic experiences.
“I wrote this book over five months, but I have been collecting materials since 2000. Since then, I have been recording important information on paper. Unfortunately, some remarkable people I worked with at the university have passed away, and I wanted to honor their memory as well,” says Saniya Ibragimkyzy.
The Center for Russian Language, Literature, and Culture was established at the university on November 25, 2020. Since its founding, the center has contributed significantly to helping educators, students, and researchers explore the Russian world and deepen their knowledge of the Russian language and literature. The initiative for opening the center was supported by the “Bylina” Ethnocultural Association, which continues to collaborate with the university. According to the association’s chairman, Andrey Korablev, “Bylina” has also started teaching the Kazakh language to representatives of other nationalities. Classes begin with the performance of the Kazakh National Anthem, and university lecturers conduct the lessons.
The book’s ceremonial launch was attended by Rector Salamat Idrissov, scholars Askhat Imangaliyev and Kadir Zhusip, as well as Liliya Belaya, daughter of Lev Iosifovich Bely, who contributed to the establishment of the Department of Russian Philology.
Representatives from universities in Russia and Uzbekistan, the regional “Public Consent” Center, associations of Russian language teachers, ethnocultural organizations, the “Ustaz” school, and other institutions joined the event both online and offline.
Participants congratulated Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University on its 85th anniversary and the center on its 5th anniversary, expressing warm wishes to the book’s author, Saniya Kemalova, and wishing her continued creative success.
