Togyzkumalak Day Celebrated at Atyrau University

On September 9, Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University held an event dedicated to Togyzkumalak Day.

The sports gathering, aimed at promoting our national heritage, brought together university students, faculty members, and schoolchildren who actively participated in the celebration.

Today, more than 200,000 people across Kazakhstan regularly practice Togyzkumalak, a traditional game included in UNESCO’s list of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

At the opening ceremony, Vice-Rector for Youth Policy and Social Affairs, Lyaiyla Koishyghulova, delivered a congratulatory speech, emphasizing the importance of promoting this national game.

The event was also attended by Kurmanbai Ashetov, nine-time champion of Kazakhstan and national referee of the highest category, as well as Ainagul Suleimenova, a renowned coach and national-level referee.
