Conference on “The Kazakh Language as the Language of Science and Technology” Held

Today, on the birthday of prominent scholar Akhmet Baitursynuly, founder of the Kazakh alphabet and father of Kazakh linguistics, the International “Kazakh Language Society,” together with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, organized a conference on the theme “The Kazakh Language as the Language of Science and Technology.”

Professors and lecturers of Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University also took part in the conferencе.

The event opened with the President of Kazakhstan’s address dedicated to the Day of Languages. Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek noted in his speech that “the development of language and technology is inseparable from the progress of artificial intelligence,” emphasizing the importance of ongoing projects to make Kazakh a language of science and artificial intelligence.

Key topics discussed at the conference included:

• The potential of Large Language Models (LLMs) as a powerful tool to develop Kazakh as a language of science and technology

• Opportunities of the AlemAI artificial intelligence ecosystem

• Development of scientific terminology in Kazakh and automatic speech recognition through chatbots

• Expanding the availability of digital programs and applications in Kazakh

• Widening Kazakh-language interfaces

• Promoting the Kazakh language internationally through artificial intelligence and machine translation

• Increasing the number of scientific articles, textbooks, and online courses in Kazakh
