Teacher Retraining: An Effective Mechanism for Continuous Professional Development

For the past six years, Khalel Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University has been systematically implementing teacher retraining courses as part of its commitment to lifelong learning and professional development. The programme is designed for individuals who hold a higher education degree but do not possess a pedagogical qualification, providing them with the opportunity to pursue a career in teaching by developing the necessary professional competencies. By combining theoretical instruction with teaching practice, the programme enables participants to acquire a new profession and successfully begin their careers in the field of education.

Each year, both the range of educational programmes and the number of participants continue to grow, reflecting the increasing demand for teacher retraining in the labour market and its important role in supplying the education system with qualified teaching professionals. The courses are organised in accordance with the principles of lifelong learning, contributing to the continuous professional development of educators and enhancing the overall quality of education.

In this context, Khalel Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University held a ceremonial certificate presentation for participants who successfully completed the Teacher Retraining Programme during the 2025–2026 academic year.

A total of 82 participants successfully completed the programme across 13 educational programmes during the 2025–2026 academic year. Training was provided in the fields of Psychology, Primary Education, Art Education, Music Education, Biology, Computer Science, Chemistry, Physics, Geography, Mathematics, History and Social Studies, Kazakh Language and Literature, and Foreign Languages.

The ceremony was attended by Vice-Rector Zhanar Suleimenova, Dean of the Faculty of Multilingual Education Meruert Amangaziyeva, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Arts Sagingerei Aymuratov, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences Raushan Atrauova, and Head of the Department of Mathematics and Mathematics Teaching Methodology Zulfia Zhanuzakova. They congratulated the participants on successfully completing the programme, wished them continued professional success, and presented them with their certificates.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, Gulzhan Nursultanova, Head of the Office of Staff Retraining and Professional Development, highlighted the importance of the Teacher Retraining Programme and wished the graduates every success in mastering their new profession, achieving professional excellence, and pursuing continuous personal and career growth.

Teacher retraining is not only a confident step toward a new profession but also an effective mechanism for continuous professional development. Khalel Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University will continue to implement this programme consistently, making a meaningful contribution to preparing highly qualified teaching professionals for the education system.
