I. Objectives: To study the linguistic mechanisms of intercultural communication, to discuss its verbal and non-verbal manifestations related to the typological diversity of languages, the revival of ethnic archetypes and symbols, etc.
ІІ. Tasks: To expand and systematize ideas about linguistic factors of intercultural communication on the basis of scientific research of faculty teachers, to identify prospects for new research concepts, to combine efforts in the study of topical problems of multilingualism, to promote the creation of research groups for writing articles, textbooks, collective monographs, projects, to activate the scientific work of masters of departments.

The choice of the direction of the scientific school is due to the fact that it has a wide interdisciplinary potential and allows combining 4 departments of the Faculty of multilingual education on the basis of the linguistic component of modern communication theory. Scientific research in the field of intercultural communication is interesting for a linguist, translator, language teacher. The process of intercultural communication is a specific form of activity that involves knowledge of the languages, material and spiritual culture of another people, religion, values, moral attitudes, worldviews, etc., collectively determining the behavior model of communication partners. Only the combination of these two types of knowledge – language and culture – provides effective and fruitful communication, serves as the basis for effective intercultural communication.
