Production Ecology and Carbon Footprint: Guest Lecture by Embamunaigas Specialists

On November 29, 2024, students of Atyrau University named after Kh. Dosmukhamedov attended a guest lecture delivered by representatives of Embamunaigas JSC — Salima Zholdasovna Abitova, Head of the Environmental Protection Department, and Dinara Serzhanovna Utenova, Lead Environmental Engineer. The topic of the lecture was “Production Ecology. Carbon Footprint of Production.” During the session, the speakers discussed environmental management systems at oil and gas production enterprises, emission monitoring practices, and measures aimed at reducing environmental impact. Special emphasis was placed on the concept of the carbon footprint, calculation methodologies, international decarbonization requirements, and the implementation of best available technologies. The lecture also covered rational use of natural resources, energy efficiency improvement, industrial waste management, and corporate environmental responsibility programs. Students gained practical insights into the role of environmental specialists in industry and current environmental standards. The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session.
