Information Seminar on Petrochemical Development and Polyethylene Production in Kazakhstan

On April 18, 2025, an information seminar titled “Production and Application of Polyethylene in Kazakhstan” was held at Atyrau University named after Kh. Dosmukhamedov for 2nd–4th year students of the educational programs 6B05201 – “Applied Ecology,” 6B05202 – “Ecoanalytics,” and 6B05203 – “Waste Management.” The event was organized by CaspiyMunayGas Research and Design Institute JSC in cooperation with Silleno LLP. The seminar was conducted within the framework of the project “Construction of the First Integrated Gas Chemical Complex in Atyrau Region. Phase Two (Polyethylene Production),” one of the region’s key strategic industrial initiatives. During the seminar, experts discussed the prospects for the development of the petrochemical industry in Kazakhstan, particularly in the Atyrau region. They presented the technological stages of polyethylene production, raw material processing features, environmental standards, and the implementation of sustainable development principles in industrial activities. The objectives of the seminar were: to introduce students to the polyethylene production process and key technological aspects; to explain the main application areas of polyethylene in construction, packaging, healthcare, and other industries; to highlight the development prospects of Kazakhstan’s petrochemical sector and related career opportunities. Special emphasis was placed on environmental protection, industrial waste management, and the role of environmental specialists in minimizing environmental impact. The event concluded with a Q&A session and discussion of internship and employment opportunities.
