Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University contributes to Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being by promoting a healthy lifestyle and developing educational programs in natural sciences, ecology, and physical education. The university provides conditions for strengthening students’ health through sports facilities, large-scale sports and wellness events, and preventive programs. Special attention is given to psychological support services and maintaining a safe learning environment. Through research activities, awareness initiatives, and cooperation with regional healthcare and social institutions, the university supports public health improvement and enhances overall quality of life.
  • “From Europe to Asia” Marathon in Atyrau with Participation of Atyrau University Students

    On October 13, 2024, the “From Europe to Asia” marathon started in the city of Atyrau. Veterans from Uzbekistan and Russia participated, as well as students and graduates of Atyrau University named after Kh. Dosmukhamedov. First-year students from the educational programs “6B05201 – Applied Ecology,” “6B05202 – Ecoanalytics,” and “6B05203 – Waste Management” took part in the marathon. Participants demonstrated team spirit, athletic determination, and a commitment to a healthy lifestyle. The marathon also helped strengthen inter-university and international connections, promote sports among youth, and foster active civic engagement.

  • Kazakhstan Para-Judo Team Wins 2nd Place at IBSA Judo Grand Prix in Giza

    At the 2025 IBSA Judo Grand Prix in Giza, the Kazakhstan para-judo team won 2nd place in the overall team standings. A pride of our university, 2024 Paralympic participant, World Cup champion, and second-year student of the Faculty of Humanities and Arts, Alfiya Tlekqabil (-52 kg, J1) decisively defeated her opponents and claimed the gold medal!

  • Atyrau University Men’s 3×3 Basketball Team Wins XIII Summer Universiade

    The men’s 3×3 basketball team of H. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University became the champion of the XIII Summer Universiade! We extend our gratitude to our talented athletes and coaching staff! This victory is the result of determination, teamwork, and hard work!

  • Results of the Amin Tuyakov Memorial Athletics Competition

    The results of the athletics competition held in honor of Amin Tuyakov—a 1960 graduate of Halel University, European Cup winner, multiple champion and record-holder of the USSR, Honored Master of Sports of the USSR, and Honorary Citizen of Mangystau and Atyrau regions—have been summarized. A total of 105 participants from 7 teams took part, including students from Atyrau University, several city colleges, and individual participants. 100-meter race • Men: Dәuir Zholaman (Inder district, Örlik village), Bakytzhan Kenzhaly (“Western” College “Bolashak”), Almat Zhasbatyrov (Polytechnic College); • Women: Zhuldyz Zamangalieva (“Western”), Asel Ruslanova (Polytechnic College), Angelina Konstantinova (Atyrau University). 1500-meter race • Men: Erkebulan Atashev (individual participant), Zholaman Dәuir (individual participant), Bolat Mukashev (“Western”); • Women: Alfiya Mukhidenova (Atyrau University), Zhuldyz Zamangalieva (“Western”), Aknur Izim (Atyrau University). Winners and prize-winners were awarded certificates, commemorative badges, and cash prizes. Financial support was provided by the university trade union.

  • Atyrau University Students Triumph at the 2nd National Sports Games in Kyrgyzstan

    On October 20–21, 2025, in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Kyrgyz-Turkish “Manas” University, the II National Sports Games were held among universities of the member states of the Organization of Turkic States. The Games were organized in seven sports, and students of H. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University competed in various wrestling disciplines. Achievements of our athletes: • Akniyet Izbasarov – Kyrgyz “Alysh” wrestling, 60 kg – 1st place • Akylbek Amanuly – “Alysh” wrestling, 70 kg – 3rd place • Nurzhan Sarsengaliev – “Alysh” wrestling, 80 kg – 1st place • Nurasyl Anesov – Turkish “Shalvar” wrestling, 70 kg – 1st place • Nurzhan Sarsengaliev – Kyrgyz wrestling, 85 kg – 3rd place Thus, athletes of Atyrau University won 3 gold and 2 bronze medals, enhancing the university’s reputation on the international stage.

  • Alfiya Tlekqabil Wins Gold at the Asian Para-Judo Championship

    At the Asian Para Judo Championship held in Astana, Alfiya Tlekqabil represented her country in the 52 kg weight category (J1) and won the gold medal. During the competition, Alfiya demonstrated exceptional skill and decisively defeated her opponents: • Quarterfinal – Polish athlete Novia Larasati • Semifinal – fellow Kazakh athlete Inkar Bauyrzhan • Final – Uzbek athlete Fotima Toirova Thus, Alfiya became the Asian Champion. This is not Alfiya’s first major victory. In 2023, she also became the champion at the continental competition in Astana in the 57 kg weight category. It is worth noting that Alfiya Tlekqabil is a third-year student of the Faculty of Humanities and Arts at H. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University. This victory is a great joy for the university. In turn, the Chairman of the Board and Rector, Salamat Idrisov, personally congratulated Alfiya on her outstanding achievement at the Asian Championship and wished her success in upcoming competitions.

  • Innovations in Reproductive Medicine: Scientific Seminar Highlights

    Organized by the Department of Biology and Fisheries of Atyrau University named after Khalel Dosmukhamedov, with the participation of Ecomed-Atyrau Clinic, a scientific seminar titled “In Vitro Fertilization in Kazakhstan: Development and Achievements” was held. The main objective of the seminar was to discuss scientific and clinical achievements in the field of in vitro fertilization (IVF), present modern technologies in embryology, and broaden the professional horizons of biology students and young researchers. In addition, the seminar: analyzed the level of development of IVF technology in Kazakhstan and highlighted its scientific and practical achievements; strengthened cooperation between the University and the Ecomed-Atyrau Clinic by integrating science and clinical practice and introducing students to real clinical processes; provided biology students with fundamental knowledge of innovative medical research to enhance their professional competencies. Reason for inclusion in SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being: the main topic of the seminar was in vitro fertilization, addressing issues of reproductive health and the preservation of the biological quality of reproductive cells; IVF technology is one of the leading innovative areas in reproductive medicine, enabling families to have children and directly contributing to the improvement of public health.

  • Atyrau Marathon - 2026: University Representatives Among the Winners

    With the support of the Atyrau Region Department of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism, as well as the Athletics Federation and the organizers of Atyrau Marathon, the traditional “Atyrau Marathon - 2026” athletics marathon was held.

    Representing Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University at the competition were Associate Professor of the Department of Physical Education and Initial Military Training, veteran athlete Askar Kaziyev, and fourth-year Physical Education student Alfiya Mukhidenova.

    Competing in the women’s 18–25 age category, Alfiya completed the 42-kilometer marathon distance in 5 hours and 30 minutes and became the champion.

    Held for the ninth time this year, the large-scale sporting event set a remarkable record, with more than 2,500 participants registered - the highest number in the marathon’s history. Alongside residents of Atyrau, participants from other regions of Kazakhstan and international runners also took part, further expanding the scale of the competition.

    Participants competed in distances of 5 km, 10 km, 21.1 km, and 42.2 km.

  • Art Therapy Course Held within the “Silver University” Project

    An art therapy course titled “Colors that Warm the Soul” was organized at Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University within the framework of the “Silver University” project. The event brought together senior participants, offering them an opportunity to express their inner emotions through creativity.

    During the course, participants conveyed their feelings through painting, engaged in open discussions, and worked collaboratively in a supportive environment. According to the organizers, art therapy methods are aimed at improving psychological well-being and developing creative potential.

    Throughout the sessions, participants supported one another and worked in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. As a result, each attendee was able to reflect their personal experiences through artistic expression.

    “This course truly brought warmth to our hearts. It is a wonderful opportunity for older generations. We are deeply grateful to Shynar Nurbolatkyzy for introducing us to art therapy. We feel rejuvenated, have made wonderful new friends, and these three days inspired us toward great achievements. We wish everyone good health and peace for our country,” said course participant Mausym Guzairova.

    The course was organized by the Office of Retraining and Advanced Training and conducted by Shynar Bissenova, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy, together with Gulzhan Nursultanova, Head of the Office, Senior Lecturer, and trainer.

  • April 2 - World Autism Awareness Day

    Today is a day of understanding, acceptance, support, and compassion. It marks an important step toward ensuring that every child with special needs finds their place in society. The “Daryn” Inclusive Education Resource Center at the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy, Faculty of Innovative Education of Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University is a vivid example of meaningful work in this direction.

    The main goal of the Center is to combine theoretical knowledge with practical training for future special education teachers and psychologists while providing high-quality support to children with special educational needs.

    Today, the “Daryn” Center:

    • Provides systematic corrective and developmental support for children with special needs

    • Serves as a professional practice platform for students

    • Has become a scientific and practical center for inclusive education

    Since the 2025-2026 academic year, within the framework of a memorandum with the Regional Psychological-Medical-Pedagogical Consultation No. 1, the Center has been providing regular speech therapy and psychological support to children with special educational needs.

    The Center also hosts:

    - regional forums

    - international conferences

    - scientific discussions

    On April 2, 2025, a regional forum titled “Methods of Social Adaptation of Children with Autism” was held. On April 9, 2025, an international scientific and practical conference “Inclusive Education and Society: Methodology, Research, Practice” was organized jointly with Simon Fraser University.

    Scholars, researchers, and practitioners from Kazakhstan and abroad participated, sharing experience and discussing current issues in inclusive education. Leading experts also provided methodological and scientific support to regional specialists.

    Currently, a modular psychological program aimed at developing social and communication skills of children with special needs - developed jointly by faculty and students - is under scientific review for patenting.

    This is an important innovative step combining science and practice.

  • Drug Crime Prevention Event Held Among Youth

    A preventive meeting aimed at combating drug-related crime among youth was held at Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University within the framework of the “Law and Order” principle.

     

    The event brought together experts who engaged in an open dialogue with students:

    • Aibol Kairatuly Idrissov, Major of Police, Operative Officer of the Anti-Drug Crime Unit of the Atyrau Region Police Department

    • Arman Kuanyshovich Serikov, Senior Lieutenant of Justice, Inspector of the Atyrau City Probation Service

    • Nurlybek Nurboluly Daraliyev, Chairman of the Standing Commission on Social and Cultural Development of the Atyrau Regional Maslikhat and Deputy Chairman of the Drug Offenses Prevention Council

    During the meeting, participants discussed the harmful impact of drug-related crime on society, legal responsibility, and its consequences for the future of young people.

    Individuals previously convicted of drug-related and theft offenses also shared their personal experiences, illustrating the real-life consequences of poor decisions.

    The event was held in an open dialogue format, allowing students to ask questions and receive detailed answers from experts.

    The main goal of such meetings is to prevent offenses among youth, promote a healthy lifestyle, and strengthen the principles of law and order.
