Participation of Atyrau University Students in the “Taza Kazakhstan” Campaign at the “Akzhayyk” Nature Reserve
On October 17, 2024, third-year students of the educational program “6B05201 – Applied Ecology” from Atyrau University named after Kh. Dosmukhamedov participated in tree planting in the Primorsky area of the Akzhayyk State Nature Reserve as part of the national environmental campaign Taza Kazakhstan, dedicated to Forest Workers’ Day. Under the guidance of the Department of Ecology faculty, students learned modern tree planting and care techniques, as well as the ecological characteristics of the region. The event promoted environmental awareness, teamwork, and understanding the importance of conserving natural resources. Additionally, students gained practical experience in large-scale conservation activities and deepened their knowledge of biodiversity and sustainable natural resource management.

Guest Lecture on Tengizchevroil Production for Atyrau University Students
On October 29, 2024, the Department of Ecology at Atyrau University named after Kh. Dosmukhamedov hosted a guest lecture for third-year students of the educational program “6B05201 – Applied Ecology,” delivered by Khayrliev Alibek Akilbekovich, a production operations consultant at Tengizchevroil. During the lecture, students learned about the company’s main technological processes, methods of managing production risks, environmental standards, and industrial safety requirements. Special attention was given to sustainable use of natural resources, minimizing environmental impact, and implementing modern ecological technologies in production. The lecture provided students with practical insights into the operations of large oil and gas enterprises, strengthened their knowledge of industrial ecology, and prepared them for future professional activities in ecology and sustainable natural resource management.

Roundtable on Environmental Issues of Shallowing and Pollution of the Ural River Bed
On November 11, 2024, Atyrau University named after Kh. Dosmukhamedov hosted a roundtable on “Environmental Issues of Shallowing and Pollution of the Ural River Bed and Ways to Preserve Biodiversity.” Participants included representatives from: Nazereke Talgatkyzy Makhmetova – Head of the Science and Monitoring Department, Akzhayyk State Nature Reserve, Committee of Forestry and Wildlife, Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Kazakhstan. Marzhangul Sanimzhanovna Segizbayeva – Engineer-Chemist, Atyrau Branch of RSE “Kazhydromet.” Baken Bolatkhanovich Bolatkhanov – Director of the Center for Comprehensive Environmental Services, JSC “CaspianMunaigas” Research and Design Institute. Sapar Doscaraevich Tursynbekov – Head of Laboratory-Analytical Control Department, Atyrau Regional Department of Ecology, Committee for Environmental Regulation and Control, Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Kazakhstan. Organizers of the event: Zhanar Sanakkyzy Esenamanova – responsible for scientific work at the Department of Ecology, and Anar Ersainovna Tlepbergenova – responsible for organizing student practical training. During the roundtable, participants discussed issues of riverbed shallowing and pollution in the Ural River, ecological risks, and strategies for biodiversity preservation, and proposed practical solutions and recommendations.

The 27th General Assembly of the Association of Caspian Region Universities Held at Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University As part of the 85th anniversary of H. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University, the 27th General Assembly of the Association of Universities and Research Centers of the Caspian Region was held today. During the assembly, key priorities were defined for strengthening integration among universities of the Caspian region in education and science, as well as identifying common research directions in environmental and technological fields. It is worth noting that the Association of State Universities of the Caspian Region has become a reliable partner in the fields of science, education, and cultural cooperation. In the future, this collaboration will be expanded through the launch of the “Caspian Campus” project, aimed at fostering student and faculty exchanges and training a new generation of scientists and engineers. Additionally, the project “Caspian – Region of Cultural Dialogues” has been proposed, which includes research scholarships and initiatives to study and promote the traditions, languages, and cultures of member countries. Memorandums with university associations from Europe, Asia, and the Middle East are also planned, along with participation in international grant programs such as Erasmus+, Horizon Europe, Green Central Asia, and others.

Scientific Round Table on Marine Ecosystem Protection and Caspian Conservation (2025)
The university is carrying out systematic work in the field of marine ecosystem protection and biodiversity conservation. In 2025, the university held a scientific round table entitled “Sustainable Development of Kazakhstan: Infrastructure Modernization and Protection of the Caspian.” During the event, scholars discussed issues related to changes in the water level of the Caspian Sea, biodiversity conservation, environmental rights, and public participation in addressing environmental challenges.

Current Issues of Fish Reproduction and Development in the Ural–Caspian Water Bodies within the Framework of SDG 14 Within the framework of the regional panel discussion “Joint Action, Impact, Experience,” the Head of the Caspian Environmental Integrated Research and Monitoring Laboratory at Atyrau University named after H. Dosmukhamedov, G.G. Zhumatova, delivered a presentation titled “Current Issues of Fish Reproduction and Development in the Ural–Caspian Water Bodies” under Sustainable Development Goal 14 (SDG 14). The University conducts scientific monitoring aimed at biodiversity conservation and sustainable management of fish resources, and implements practical measures focused on preserving the marine ecosystem.
