Atyrau University implements comprehensive measures aimed at rational resource use, fostering environmental responsibility, and integrating sustainable consumption and production principles into its educational and research activities. Within the framework of SDG 12, the University: introduces energy- and water-saving practices, as well as waste reduction and segregation systems on campus; promotes digital document management and paperless solutions to minimize environmental impact; cultivates a culture of responsible consumption and environmental awareness among students and staff; supports research in environmental management, green technologies, and sustainable production; incorporates courses on sustainable development, circular economy, and responsible consumption into academic programs. Through these initiatives, the University contributes to advancing sustainable development principles and promoting responsible consumption and production practices in the region.
  • Guest Lecture by Embamunaygas Representatives on Production Ecology and Carbon Footprint

    On November 29, 2024, a guest lecture was held for students of Atyrau University named after Kh. Dosmukhamedov by representatives of Embamunaygas — Salima Zholdasovna Abitova, Head of the Environmental Protection Department, and Dinara Serzhanovna Utenova, Lead Engineer of the Department, on the topic “Production Ecology. Carbon Footprint of Production.” During the lecture, students learned about modern environmental practices in the oil and gas industry, methods for monitoring and reducing the carbon footprint in production, corporate environmental responsibility programs, and tools for assessing environmental impact. Special attention was given to sustainable resource management and the implementation of environmentally safe technologies in production processes. The lecture provided students with practical knowledge of modern approaches to environmental management in oil and gas enterprises and prepared them for future professional activities in industrial ecology and sustainable development.

Dosmukhamedov The “Ecological Etiquette” training was organized by the Eco-Campus Development Department of Atyrau University named after H. Dosmukhamedov. ✅ The training aimed to foster environmental culture, providing practical skills in waste sorting and encouraging contributions to environmental care. ✅ The training leader, eco-volunteer Kulyash Khaltovna Amandikova, focused on waste reduction and promoting ecological sustainability. ✅ University staff and students were guided on the importance of sorting waste and incorporating an eco-friendly lifestyle into their daily routines. ✅ In a world where every human action leaves a footprint, ecological etiquette should become an integral part of our lives.
  • Proper Waste Sorting as the Foundation of an Eco-Friendly Lifestyle

    Waste Sorting as a Key Element of an Eco-Friendly Lifestyle Atyrau University named after H. Dosmukhamedov has been cooperating with the Экодаму organization since 2022, promoting the principles of proper waste sorting and sustainable consumption. Systematic work has been carried out to develop a culture of waste segregation among university staff and students. As part of this initiative, the university regularly organizes monthly paper collection and recycling campaigns. These activities contribute to environmental protection, efficient resource use, and the promotion of environmental responsibility. As a result, the university has been ranked among the TOP-5 institutions in Atyrau city, including universities, colleges, and schools, for paper recycling performance. For the university’s contribution to improving environmental cleanliness in Atyrau, the organization’s director, Мейірбек Қуанышев, awarded the university with a certificate of appreciation. The partnership will continue to develop in the future, focusing on strengthening environmental initiatives. Environmental sustainability begins with each of us.

  • Research Project “Introduction of a Rotational Grazing System in the Zhylyoi District of the Atyrau Region” (2025)
    In 2025, within the framework of a regional competition for research and experimental development projects funded by the Atyrau regional budget, the Department of Economics implemented the project titled “Introduction of a Rotational Grazing System in the Zhylyoi District of the Atyrau Region.” As a result of the project, statistical indicators of agricultural productivity were analyzed. Special attention was given to food security issues, including the sustainability of pasture-based feed resources and the efficient use of land through determining the optimal livestock-to-hectare ratio.
