Shanyrak Day: A Celebration of Family Values and National Traditions

As part of the Nauryznamа, a festive event dedicated to Shanyrak Day (March 17) was organized by the Faculty of Natural Sciences at Khalel Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University.

 

The program highlighted Kazakh family traditions and values. In particular, the traditional Besik salu ceremony (placing a baby in the cradle) was staged, including the naming ritual and cradle ceremony.

 

Another important tradition, Tusau keser (cutting the child’s leg ties), was also demonstrated. The ceremony was performed by Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Askhat Salimuly.

 

During the celebration, students performed songs accompanied by the dombra and presented national dances, creating a joyful atmosphere for the audience. Guests were also treated to traditional dishes, and shashu (symbolic sweets and treats) was scattered as part of the celebration.
