International Scientific Seminar on the Alash Movement Held

An international scientific and practical seminar titled “The Alash Movement and Kazakh Statehood: New Sources and Research” dedicated to the 60th anniversary of Doctor of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor Akhmet Akkali Kabizhanuly was held at Khalel Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University.

 

The seminar brought together leading scholars from Kazakhstan and abroad, university lecturers, researchers, and students. The event was opened by the Chairman of the Board - Rector of the University Salamat Idrissov, who highlighted the anniversary celebrant’s contribution to science and education.

 

Among those who delivered congratulatory remarks were Marat Abuov, Head of the Atyrau Regional Department of Education; Professor Kadir Zhusip Otegenuly, Doctor of Philological Sciences; Abdullah Gundogdu, Professor of Ankara University (Türkiye); Professor Dosbol Baigonakov of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University; and Professor Aldar Sarsenov.

 

During the seminar, Rector Salamat Idrissov presented Akhmet Akkali Kabizhanuly with the Kh. Dosmukhamedov commemorative badge by decision of the Academic Council. Professor Kadir Zhusip Otegenuly also ceremonially awarded the scholar the title of Academician of the Caspian Public Academy.

 

The seminar featured presentations on topics related to Alash studies, the history of Kazakh statehood, national revival, and archival research. Discussions included issues such as the study of Kazakh national revival and Alash studies in Türkiye, new directions in researching the legacy of Mustafa Shokay, the role of the Alash movement during the Russian Civil War, and the educational activities of Kazakh intellectuals in the 1920-30s.

 

A documentary film about the scholar’s academic and pedagogical work was also presented, followed by discussions and scholarly recommendations from participants.

 

At the end of the event, organizers and participants wished the jubilee celebrant continued creative success, and the seminar concluded.
