Atyrau University Hosts Meeting on Preventing Internet Fraud

Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University’s Faculty of Economics and Law, Department of Criminal Law, and the Atyrau Regional Branch of the “JANARU” National Anti-Corruption Movement jointly organized a meeting with law enforcement representatives on the topic “Stay Alert Against Internet Fraud.”

The event was held to promote the principles of law and order and to enhance legal literacy among young people.

The meeting was opened by S.N. Idrissov, Chairman of the Board - Rector of Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University and Director of the Atyrau Regional Branch of the “JANARU” Movement. He emphasized that internet fraud is one of the pressing issues in society and highlighted the importance of law enforcement efforts and raising citizens’ information awareness.

During the session, participants were introduced to common types of internet crimes, including phishing, deepfakes, online shopping and investment scams, and fraud via SMS and messaging apps, along with practical methods for preventing such offenses. Video materials were also presented on protecting personal data online and developing safe internet practices.

At the end of the meeting, Rector Salamat Idrissov presented certificates of appreciation to participants and noted that awareness and preventive efforts against internet fraud would continue.
