Prioritizing the Training of Marine Science Specialists
On 16-17 October, the XXVII General Assembly of the Association of Universities of the Caspian Region was held in Atyrau, with the full participation of the Board of Directors of Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University.
The meeting, held under the theme “Caspian Ecosystem: Integration of Science and Education,” brought together universities and research organizations from Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Iran, and Russia.
Chairman of the Board of Directors, statesman and public figure, and Deputy Chairman of the Republican Public Association “Zhanaru,” Beibit Mamrayev, emphasized that the Caspian region holds special importance for Kazakhstan. He noted that it is a strategic economic hub, an energy center, and an ecologically significant area directly impacting the well-being and health of the population.
He highlighted the need to train specialists with a strong understanding of the region’s biodiversity, climate, energy, and logistics features. He proposed launching new educational programs based on biology, chemistry, engineering, and IT, such as “Marine Ecology,” “Aquaculture and Fisheries,” and “Marine Energy.”
He also suggested expanding the number of joint research grants, establishing an Organizational Center that would integrate the best educational programs and laboratories across the Caspian region following the model of a network university, and involving the business sector through public-private partnership mechanisms.
The valuable insights and discussions raised at the Assembly were further developed during the international scientific-practical conference “Dosmukhamedov Readings - 2025: Modern Innovations and Artificial Intelligence in the Development of Science and Education.”
The Chairman of the Board of Directors noted that the use of Big Data, satellite monitoring, GIS technologies, and artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly significant in training specialists for the national economy. He emphasized the need for deep analysis and integration of AI capabilities into scientific advancement.
All proposals were included in the final documents of the Assembly and the conference.
