Archaeological Excavations Have Begun at the Medieval Aktobe-Laeti Settlement!

Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University has launched archaeological excavations at the medieval settlement of Aktobe-Laeti as part of a project commissioned by the Department of Culture, Archives and Documentation of the Atyrau Region and the Center for the Study of Historical and Cultural Heritage.

🛕 In addition to the well-known medieval city of Saraishyk, the Atyrau region is home to a number of other historical towns and settlements. One of them is Aktobe-Laeti, a major craft and trade center dating back to the Altyn Orda era. Located northeast of the city of Atyrau, this settlement played a significant role in the ancient civilization, economic activity, and cultural development of the region.

The excavation works are led by archaeologists Marat Kasenov and Amangeldi Zainov. The project supervisor is Candidate of Historical Sciences Gulfairuz Kaiyrgaliyeva.

The research aims to preserve Kazakhstan’s historical and cultural heritage, promote the development of national archaeology, and uncover new pages in the history of the Atyrau region.
