“ECO QYZDAR”: STUDENTS MEET WITH EXPERIENCED ENVIRONMENTAL PROFESSIONALS

A meeting with environmental professionals was held at Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University as part of the Eco Qyzdar project. First-year students of the university took part in the event.

The meeting aimed to introduce students to the professional aspects of working in environmental protection, support the professional development of female students, and provide an opportunity to learn from the experience of women working in the environmental sector.

The event was organised by Dilnaz Dosmukhambetova, a fourth-year student of the Applied Ecology educational programme. She introduced the participants to the Eco Qyzdar project and explained its key objectives. The meeting was moderated by Anar Tlepbergenova, Head of the Department of Ecology, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences and Associate Professor.

The special guests included Ainur Sembayeva, Alumni Coordinator at the U.S. Embassy in Kazakhstan, and Azhar Kabdulinova, a specialist in higher education. The meeting also addressed opportunities offered by international educational programmes and ways to develop leadership skills.

Gulssayat Gabdulova, an Oil Spill Response and Environmental Protection Specialist at NCOC, shared her professional experience in the oil and gas industry. She spoke about environmental safety requirements in industrial operations and the procedures followed in the event of an oil spill. Environmental specialist Elmira Eskaiyr explained the day-to-day responsibilities of an environmental professional and outlined the role of specialists in addressing environmental challenges.

Bhaskar Magesh, Lead Engineer at NCOC, spoke about digital technologies used in industrial operations and highlighted the connection between engineering and environmental protection.

During the meeting, students asked the specialists questions and exchanged views about their future careers. They learned about various career opportunities in the environmental sector and received information about opportunities to further their knowledge and gain professional experience.
