SCIENTIFIC SEMINAR DEDICATED TO THE SCHOLAR’S LEGACY HELD

A scientific seminar entitled “History and Personalities” was held at Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University to mark the 90th anniversary of the birth of Zhienbai Bazarbaiuly Baki, Honoured Worker of Education, recipient of the Order of Kurmet, Candidate of Historical Sciences and Professor.

The seminar was opened with welcoming remarks by Bakyt Altynbasov, Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation. He highlighted the scholar’s significant contribution to the development of the university, the advancement of historical science and the training of qualified specialists, and emphasised the importance of his exemplary life and career for future generations.

The event was moderated by Saipulla Sapanov, Director of the Kh. B. Tabyldiyev Institute for Research into the History, Archaeology and Ethnology of the Caspian Region, Doctor of Historical Sciences and Professor.

University Professor and veteran educator Amankeldi Shamgonov delivered a presentation entitled “Zhienbai Bazarbaiuly Baki – My First Teacher”, sharing his memories of the scholar’s qualities as an educator and his human values.

The seminar provided an extensive discussion of the scholar’s life, teaching career and academic legacy. Shakhman Nagymov, University Professor, Chair of the Council of Veterans and Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, spoke about Zhienbai Baki’s dedication to his profession and his responsibility as a mentor to students. Doctor of Historical Sciences and Professor Zhamigа Tanatarova provided a scholarly analysis of the pressing issues addressed in the researcher’s works. Professor Leskali Berdigozhin highlighted his contribution to studying the history of the Atyrau region and the significance of his research in local history.

Muktar Abilseit, Director of the “Sarayshyq” State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve, shared his views on Zhienbai Baki’s support and guidance of young researchers and his contribution to their development as scholars. Candidate of Historical Sciences and Professor Adilbek Turdaliyev spoke about the scholar’s teaching legacy and human qualities. Mukhambetkali Kipiyev, Director of the Atyrau Regional Museum of Local History, presented Zhienbai Baki as a historian, educator and prominent personality, highlighting the spiritual legacy he left for future generations.

As part of the event, the book “Baki Zhienbai Bazarbaiuly. Selected Works” was presented. The publication was compiled by S. Zh. Sapanov, Director of the Kh. B. Tabyldiyev Institute for Research into the History, Archaeology and Ethnology of the Caspian Region, Doctor of Historical Sciences and Professor; D. Zh. Alipova, Head of the Department of History of Kazakhstan and World History, Master of Humanities; A. D. Abdulov, Researcher at the Kh. B. Tabyldiyev Institute for Research into the History, Archaeology and Ethnology of the Caspian Region; and A. O. Orynbasarov, Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs of the Faculty of Humanities and Arts.

The book was presented by Professor and Chair of the Council of Veterans Shakhman Nagymov, Doctor of Historical Sciences and Professor Leskali Berdigozhin, and the scholar’s son Adamzat Baki.

In the final part of the scientific seminar, Zhienbai Baki’s wife, children and students shared warm memories of the respected educator and prominent scholar.

The event served as an important scholarly and cultural gathering that contributed to promoting the academic legacy of Zhienbai Baki and introducing future generations to his contribution to education and the development of national historical scholarship.
