A Life Dedicated to Science and Education

A scientific and methodological seminar titled “Relevance and Prospects of Regional Studies” was held at Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University to mark the 70th anniversary of Professor Gulshat Zhalgabaikyzy Nurgaliyeva, Candidate of Geographical Sciences, who has made a significant contribution to geography and education.

The event brought together leading scholars and representatives of higher education institutions from across the country, who highly appreciated the contribution of the honoree to science and education. Among the speakers were Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Geographical Sciences, Chairman of the Board of the Institute of Geography and Water Security A.R. Medeu; Professor Q.T. Saparov of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University; Professor A.M. Sergeeva; Associate Professor E.A. Tokpanov of I. Zhansugurov Zhetysu University; Associate Professor S.K. Kassenov of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University; and other distinguished scholars, who delivered insightful presentations and expressed their congratulations.

During the event, Professor Nurgaliyeva’s book “Natural and Anthropogenic Landscapes of the Atyrau Region” was officially presented to the public. In recognition of her outstanding contribution to science and education, she was awarded the Khalel Dosmukhamedov honorary badge.

The seminar addressed key issues of regional studies, including the geo-ecological situation of the Atyrau region, the formation of toponyms, and directions for sustainable development.

Gulshat Zhalgabaikyzy Nurgaliyeva is a highly qualified specialist who has devoted many years to the field of geography and education. Her research focuses on regional geography, environmental management, and ecological issues. She is the author of more than 40 scientific publications, including monographs and teaching materials.
