Zhumagaziev Year of publication: 202.55 Place of publication / Publisher: Atyrau "ASU Press" ISBN: 978-601-262-618-6 Abstract: The Syrdarya sedimentary basin is one of the regions where the most complete in lithological-facies, paleogeographic, and paleontological-stratigraphic sections of the Paleogene and Neogene are located, which are rightfully considered to be the reference sections for the entire territory of Southern Kazakhstan. In the study area, Paleogene deposits are very widespread and due to their specific lithological and facies-paleogeographic features, their sediments are most clearly and vividly distinguished in the section of the entire Cenozoic sedimentary complex. For the first time, the principle of dynamic facies analysis was applied to closed territories and facies-paleogeographic mapping was performed. Regularities of distribution in the section and space of various types of rocks are described. The genetic background and potential features of the considered deposits on nonmetallic minerals are characterized, as well as practical recommendations for prospecting and exploration of the latter are given. The book is a useful resource not only for geologists, lithologists, specialists of geological exploration organizations and teachers, but also for students studying in higher educational institutions of geological direction and related industries.
