In 1967, this program was separated from the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics and established as an independent faculty, with Senior Lecturer K. Azhgaliev elected as its dean. The newly formed faculty was named “Biology and Fundamentals of Agriculture.”
From 1969 to 1972, the dean was Candidate of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor Zh. Sadykov.

From 1973 to 1976, the dean was K. Azhgaliev.
In 1976, the faculty was renamed the “Biology and Chemistry Faculty,” and its dean was appointed Candidate of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor S. Abilaev.
In the same year, Candidate of Biological Sciences M. Zh. Aldabergenova also served as dean of the faculty.

In 1985, the dean of the faculty was appointed its top graduate, later Candidate of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor B. Zh. Zhanetov.

In 1991, the position of dean was held by Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, Associate Professor M. A. Aldamzharova.

Since 1993, the dean has been Candidate of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor, and Corresponding Member of the Academy of Natural Sciences K. Azhgaliev.

From 2013 to 2014, the dean of the faculty was S. K. Kassenov. In the 2014–2015 academic year, the faculty merged with the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics and was renamed the “Faculty of Natural Sciences.” During these years, B. Z. Kenzhegulov was elected dean of the faculty.

In the 2015–2017 academic years, the faculty was renamed the “Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences” for well-known reasons, and the dean was appointed Candidate of Economic Sciences A. A. Musaeva.

From 2017 to 2020, the dean of the faculty was PhD, Associate Professor of the Department of Ecology, R. Sh. Abdinov. Rauan Sharipbayuly made a significant contribution to the development of the faculty and was able to elevate it to a high level.

From 2020 to 2024, the dean of the “Natural and Agricultural Sciences” faculty was Erlan Syrimuly Kabiev. Under his leadership, the number of young scientists at the faculty increased significantly. Thanks to his guidance, the faculty achieved considerable success in supporting and developing young researchers.

In the 2024–2025 academic year, the duties of the faculty dean were temporarily performed by the Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs, S. S. Maden, and Senior Lecturer of the Department of Geography and Tourism, A. Z. Zhumagaziev. Since April, the faculty has been headed by Professor and Head of the Department of Ecology, M. S. Yesenamanova. Each dean has contributed to the growth and prosperity of the faculty, ensured quality education and student development, and created opportunities for research for both students and faculty members.

Over more than sixty years of the faculty’s history, about 5,000 students have studied full-time in the fields of natural sciences, pedagogy, and agriculture. Today, they work in various industries and schools. More than 35 graduates continue in scientific research, having obtained doctoral and candidate degrees.

Currently, the faculty has 4 specialized departments. As of the beginning of the 2024–2025 academic year, these departments employ 47 faculty members, including 3 Doctors of Sciences and academicians, 11 Candidates of Sciences, associate professors, and academic professors of the university, 8 PhD holders, and 20 with master’s degrees. Thus, the scientific potential of the faculty is 41.5%.

In the 85-year history of Kh. Dosmukhamedov University, recent years have been a period of profound renewal and development. In line with global trends in science and education, the university has sought to modernize in all areas, which has also influenced our faculty and allowed it to achieve significant success. Academic programs and teaching methods have been updated to meet current demands, and innovative approaches have been introduced to develop students’ critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and creativity. The implementation of a dual-education system has enabled students to combine theoretical knowledge with practical experience.

The faculty places a high priority on scientific research: students and faculty members participate in research projects and win awards. For example, students of the Ecology program—A. Sagynalieva, M. Dosbergenova, A. Satym, and A. Tengebayeva—won with their startup project “Souvenir Products from Epoxy Resin,” while D. Dosmukhambetova and D. Urgarchev succeeded with the project “Phytoleather: Processing Plant and Food Waste into Innovative Material.”

As part of the “Orkhun” program, foreign professors were invited to the faculty:

  • Ayten Ates — Professor, Yilmaz Kaya Cumhuriyet University (Turkey);
  • Igor Viktorovich Aksenov — Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor at Taras Shevchenko Luhansk National University;
  • Filippo Verre — Professor, PhD, Lund University (Sweden).

In 2022–2023, the following double-degree agreements were concluded:

  • Karabuk University (Turkey) until 2026 for the Master’s program 7M05301 “Chemical Analysis and Petrochemical Synthesis”;
  • Graduate School of Tourism and Hotel Management in Gdańsk (Poland) for the program 6B11101 “Tourism and Service.”

These programs increase students’ competitiveness and demand in the international labor market, foster a global outlook, develop intercultural communication skills, and expand knowledge across various fields.

Students are supported in participating in scientific conferences and symposia, and the publication of research works is encouraged. Educational work is aimed at promoting national values, fostering patriotism, and developing high moral qualities in students.

A highly qualified and experienced teaching staff has been created, with attention given to attracting young specialists. To improve faculty qualifications, courses, seminars, and training sessions are organized. Collaboration with foreign universities is established, and experience exchange programs are implemented. The faculty’s material and technical base has been fully updated, with modern laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art equipment. Interactive whiteboards, multimedia tools, and electronic textbooks and teaching aids have been integrated into the educational process.

As a result of these changes, the quality of education at the faculty has improved, and the competitiveness of graduates has increased. The faculty meets modern educational requirements, is internationally recognized, and takes pride in its scientific and innovative achievements.

Starting from the 2024–2025 academic year, Professor Mansiya Sanakovna Esenamanova, Candidate of Science, was appointed as the Dean of the «Faculty of Natural Sciences».
