Department history

The department was founded in 2004 as the "Informatics" department. By the decision of the Academic Council dated August 29, 2013, the department was reorganized into the "Information Systems and Computer Engineering" department. During the 2013-2017 academic years, the department was headed by Candidate of Technical Sciences L.T. Kurmangaziyeva.

On June 23, 2017, the department was renamed the "Software Engineering" department. Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Zh.D. Gabbassova was appointed as the head of the department.

From September 2020 to 2022, the department was again headed by Candidate of Technical Sciences L.T. Kurmangaziyeva. From February 2022, the position of head of the department was held by Master, Senior Lecturer N.B. Baitemirova. During the 2024-2025 academic years, the department was headed by I.Zh. Zhanibekkyzy.

Since 2026, the head of the department has been PhD, Associate Professor A.G. Batyrkhanov.
