History of the Department of Physics and Technical Disciplines
The Department of Physics and Technical Disciplines is one of the leading ones at the Faculty of Physics, Mathematics and Information Technology.
In 1950, when the Teachers' Institute was opened in Guryev, the first Department of Physics and Mathematics was created. In 1955, due to changes in the system of public education, it was transformed into a pedagogical institute, where a separate department of physics began to work.
In those years, the following heads of the Department of Physics worked: K. Akhmetzhanov in 1955-1958, P. M. Ivanov in 1958-1959, B. Urazgaliev in 1959-1960, M. D. Dzhumashev in 1960-1969, K. G. Gabdullin in 1968-1972, Zhalgasov A. Zh. in 1972-1977, Seitov Kh. S. in 1977-1987.
In 1961, the Department of Physics was divided into two departments: physics and departments of general technical disciplines. E. Makeev was appointed the head of the department. In 1964, these departments merged again.
In 1973, this department was divided into the departments of physics and theoretical physics. The Department of Theoretical Physics was headed by Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences B.S. Suleimenov (1973-1984). The Department of General Physics was headed until 1977 by Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences A. Zhalgasov, from 1977 to 1987 by Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor Kh. S. Seitov held the position of Head of the Department.
In 1987, the two departments merged and became the Departments of General Physics. Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Professor Zh. S. Serikov was appointed its head.
In 1990, the Department of Physics was transformed into the Department of General Technical and Theoretical Physics and again divided into two departments. The Head of the Department of General Physics and Methods of Teaching Physics was Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Imashev G.I. in 1993-1995, Associate Professor Naubetzhanov M.N. in 1995-1997.
Over the years, the department was replenished with new personnel, doctors of science, professors: Esmukhanov Zh.E., Akhmetov A.K., Nursultanov O.S., Akylbayev Zh.S., Zhumamukhambetov N.G., Shunkeev K.Sh., Kulzhanov D.O., Akhmetkaliyev R.B., candidates of sciences and associate professors: Mikhalman I.M., Chernikov Y., Kirillov V.V., Akhmetkaliyev R.B., Amandykov K., Seiketov R., Duisenbayev B., Tazhigulov B., Sukharev B.S. and senior lecturers and lecturers: Tnaliev O., Cheydukov I.G., Tyan V.N., Li B., Aysiev M., Saparov A., Glebov V.A., Kibasov O., Kanashkin E., Zhakipova G., Karpekov M., Kulzhanov K., Khairosheva G.G., Kalimanov A. and others.
In subsequent years, the department was headed by Associate Professor, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences Kuanbayeva B.U. (2005-2010), Associate Professor, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences Abykanova B.T. (2010-2013), Associate Professor, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences Syrbaeva Sh.Zh. (2013-2017), Candidate of Physical and Medical Sciences Dzhumamukhambetov Zh.G. (2017-2025). During this period, great changes took place in the development of the faculty: the office of "Electrical Engineering" named after the first head of the Department of Physics Kh. Akhmedzhanov was opened.
In 2024, a classroom was opened and equipped with new equipment "Methods of teaching physics and STEM" named after the scientist-teacher, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences G. Imashev and the laboratory "Electrical Engineering and Microprocessor System".
Since 2025, the head of the department is a master, senior lecturer Rakhmetova M.T.
At present, the department employs: Ph.D. Ph.D., Associate Professor Zh.G. Dzhumamukhambetov, Ph.D., Professor Abykanova B.T., Ph.D., Professor B.U. Kuanbayeva, Ph.D., Associate Professor G.K.
