Scientific Research and Research Areas of the Department
The department conducts fundamental and applied research in the fields of mathematical modeling, mathematics education methodology, and interdisciplinary scientific areas. Research activities are supported by grant funding from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan as well as national scientific foundations.
Faculty members of the department participate in research projects within the framework of fundamental research programs. One of these projects is the research grant “Theoretical Foundations of Mathematical Modeling of Steady Nonlinear Thermophysical Processes in Heat-Resistant Alloys” (No. 3322/GF4), supported by the National Center for State Scientific and Technical Expertise JSC, carried out in 2015–2017. The total funding of the project amounted to 30,000,000 tenge.
In addition, the department’s researchers have participated in scientific projects funded by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Among them is the research project “Thermo-Stress State of a Deformable Solid Body in the Presence of Thermal Insulation, Internal Point Heat Sources, Temperature, Heat Flux, Heat Transfer, and External Surface Forces” (2009).
In the field of mathematics education methodology, the grant project AP No. 08956312 “Structuring and Modeling the Content of Ethnomathematical Problems for the Formation and Development of Mathematical Competencies of 5–6 Grade Students in Rural Schools” was implemented in 2020–2021, with department members participating as project executors.
Within the framework of the “Zhas Galym” (Young Scientist) program for 2024–2026, the research project AP 22685531 “Study of Integrable Models with a Compatible Potential” is being implemented.
Faculty members are also involved in research projects aimed at improving the quality of higher education. One such project is AP No. 0122RKI0235 “Bilingual Educational Programs as a Means of Increasing the Competitiveness of Professional and Communicative Competence of University Students in the Specialties ‘Mathematics’ and ‘Physics’.”
Thus, the department’s research activities cover areas such as mathematical modeling, differential equations, mathematics education methodology, ethnomathematics, and modern educational technologies.
