SCIENTIFIC PROJECTS AND STARTUPS
At the Department of Ecology of Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University, students of the educational programs 6B05201 – Applied Ecology, 6B05203 – Waste Management, and 6B05202 – Ecoanalytics participate in various projects and startups:
- On February 19, 2026, the “StartUp 2026” competition was held at Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University. A total of 31 applications were submitted, and after the selection process, 17 best projects were recommended for expert evaluation. Among the projects that received financial support, the “Green Campus” project, proposed by students of the Department of Ecology and Biology, was awarded a grant of 750,000 tenge.

Scientific supervisors: A.E. Tlepbergenova, M.I. Berzhanova. - “PhytoTeri” – a project focused on processing plant and food waste into innovative materials. In the second round of the “StartUp 2025” competition, 7 projects reached the final stage, including two from the Department of Ecology:
– Dilnaz Dosmukhambetova and Dmitry Urgarchev – “Phyto Leather” project, 1,400,000 KZT;
– Aruzhan Satym, Madina Dosbergenova, Aliya Tenggebayeva – epoxy resin souvenirs project, 1,000,000 KZT. - A second-year student of Applied Ecology, Dilnaz Dosmukhambetova, won 1st place in the international research competition “Bilim zhane Bolashak”.
Scientific supervisor: N.R. Tauova. - Students of 3rd–4th years participated in the eco-project “Zher ECO Hub”: Botagoz Intimakhova, Zhibek Kelimberdina, Almira Sadibek, Temirlan Koishyghali, Assel Almuratzkyzy. The BioLotos team received a certificate.
- Dilnaz Dosmukhambetova received a certificate for participating in the training “Waste collection near home” within the EcoBatys 20 initiative.
SCIENTIFIC ACHIEVEMENTS AND ACADEMIC MOBILITY
– PhD, Associate Professor S.S. Shamshedenova conducted lectures at the Caspian University of Technology and Engineering from March 2 to March 14, 2026, within the framework of academic mobility. She also conducted practical classes for 3rd-year students in the research laboratory “Industrial Ecology and Chemical Technologies”.
– From December 1 to 13, 2025, within the framework of external academic mobility, Head of the Department, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Anar Yersainovna Tlepbergenova and PhD, Professor Zhanar Sanakovna Yesenamanova delivered a series of lectures at Samarkand State University named after Sharof Rashidov.
a) The lectures covered актуальные environmental problems of Western Kazakhstan, including anthropogenic pressure on ecosystems, the state of the Caspian region, oil and gas industry impacts, and ways to minimize industrial influence on the environment. Special attention was given to transboundary environmental cooperation and sustainable natural resource management.
b) Meetings were held with the Dean of the Faculty and the Head of the Department to discuss joint educational programs, academic exchange, research collaboration, and publications.
c) A meeting with the Vice-Rector for International Cooperation addressed strategic directions of partnership, participation in international grants, and joint conferences.
d) A visit to the scientific laboratory included a meeting with Professor Zuvayd Izzatullaev, a leading malacologist who identified the full species composition of Central Asian mollusks and described about 100 new species.
– PhD N.R. Tauova conducted lectures (November 17–29, 2025).
– PhD Nurgul Dzhanalieva delivered lectures (December 1–5, 2025) on waste management regulations and gas chromatography methods.
– PhD Eldar Bukayev delivered offline lectures (December 1–7, 2025).
– Professor Zh.S. Yesenamanova delivered lectures (March 10–21, 2025).
– The TV program “Enbek Adamy” featured the scientific achievements of Mansiya Yesenamanova.
– N.R. Tauova gave an interview highlighting the importance of the lotus ecosystem for water quality, biodiversity, and habitat formation
