Enriching the University Library with Classical Legal Literature in the Kazakh Language

On the eve of the 85th anniversary of Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University, a special campaign was held to enrich the university library’s collection with rare scientific works. The initiative received active support from the university community - professors and lecturers contributed numerous valuable publications to the library fund.

As part of this initiative, we also decided to contribute to expanding the collection of law textbooks in the Kazakh language. To this end, we donated four significant textbooks designed for students majoring in jurisprudence.

Two of them are translations of classical works from Russian:

  • Theory of State and Law (by N.I. Matuzov and A.V. Malko)
  • Constitutional Law of Foreign Countries (by V.E. Chirkin)

In addition, the textbooks History of the State and Law of Foreign Countries (co-authored with Professor V.E. Rubanik) and its Kazakh-language translation were also added to the library collection.

All four textbooks have been officially approved and recommended by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan as standard educational resources for universities across the country.

Each textbook contains between 500 and 700 pages and represents a profound academic and methodological contribution to the field of legal education. The translation into Kazakh was carried out in collaboration with my colleague, PhD Aigerim Bayanbayeva.

In total, we donated 50-60 copies of these textbooks to the university library. Looking ahead, we consider the translation of such fundamental works and the development of new original textbooks in the Kazakh language as an important step in enriching the national higher education system with quality educational literature.

Providing legal education in the Kazakh language is a vital foundation for the development of national legal scholarship and the strengthening of academic independence.
