
Regional-Republican Seminar “The Kazakh Language - The Language of Science, Culture, and Communication” Held at Atyrau University
Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University hosted a regional-republican seminar titled “The Kazakh Language - The Language of Science, Culture, and Communication,” organized by the Department of Culture and Language Development of Atyrau Region with the support of the Atyrau Regional Akimat.
The seminar was attended by members of the Language Policy Committee and the International Society of the Kazakh Language, heads of language policy implementation departments, staff of language training centers, scholars, and master’s students of Atyrau University.
The event was opened with welcoming remarks by Deputy Akim of Atyrau Region, Daryn Shamuratov. During the seminar, Chairman of the Language Policy Committee, Yerbol Tleshov, spoke on the development of methodology and the role of language in science. Director General of the Sh. Shayakhmetov National Scientific and Practical Center “Til-Kazyna,” Makpal Zhumabai, delivered a report on the role and potential of the Kazakh language in the context of the digital economy. Chairman of the Board - Rector of Atyrau University and Head of the Atyrau Regional Branch of the International Society of the Kazakh Language, Salamat Idrissov, addressed the role of the university in promoting the Kazakh language as a language of science. Associate Professor of the Department of Kazakh Language and Literature at Atyrau University, Bibigul Khairzhanova, discussed the intellectual potential of the Kazakh language in science.
In his presentation, Yerbol Tleshov emphasized the importance of methodology in the development of science, stressing that “without methodology, science cannot progress,” and highlighted the need to consider the philosophical aspects of language as well.
The seminar also discussed how, in line with global trends in education and science, IT technologies and artificial intelligence can be applied to promote the Kazakh language as a language of science.
“Developing Kazakh-language digital solutions will allow our citizens to fully participate in the digital economy and increase labor productivity by 15-20%. When education and services are available in the native language, citizens’ digital skills improve, and their ability to use data effectively strengthens. This, in turn, contributes to the creation of new jobs, the development of an innovation ecosystem, and the enhancement of national economic competitiveness,” noted Makpal Zhumabai, Director General of the Sh. Shayakhmetov National Scientific and Practical Center “Til-Kazyna.”
At the conclusion of the seminar, letters of appreciation from the Atyrau Regional Akimat and Atyrau University were presented to the speakers.
